DIRECTIONS FROM MALAGA AIRPORT TO GRANADA (BY BUS)

IMPORTANT: When making your flight arrangements, please keep in mind the time it may take for onward travel from your arrival airport (e.g. Málaga) to Granada. We don't want you to miss anything!

In particular, if your flight arrives in Málaga any later than 19.30 you will be unlikely to catch the last bus of the day from Málaga Bus Station to Granada, which currently departs at 21.00 (arrival 22.45). Accordingly, we strongly recommend either that you choose an outward flight which arrives well before 19.30 or that you request an Airport Transfer.

Málaga Airport to Málaga Bus Station

Leave the Arrivals Hall (Llegadas) and immediately turn right and walk along the pavement some 20m to a bus stop, with bench seats in an alcove. Services for Marbella and Málaga centre depart from here. The one for Málaga centre is the #19 bus and is blue in colour. Buses leave the Airport on the half hour, every hour between 07.00 and 00.00, daily. The fare (one-way) is 1€ (helpful to have some change, at least a 5€ note, if not coins) and the approximate journey time to Málaga Bus Station (Estación de Autobuses) is 25 minutes.

Alternatively, a taxi (from the rank just outside Arrivals Hall) will cost roughly 15€, and take perhaps 15 minutes, depending on traffic levels.

Málaga Bus Station to Granada

On arrival at Málaga Bus Station, enter the main building and head for the ticket window of ALSA (click on Routes and Times for timetable information). To request in Spanish a single ticket to Granada, say una ida para Granada, por favor/ dos idas para Granada etc. The price one way is 9,14€. Look on the display board in the main hall for information as to the bay (anden) from which the bus will depart. The service is run by the company Alsina Graells, and the buses are usually red and white. If you are running very short of time when you reach the bus station you should be able to buy a ticket from the bus driver, although he may tell you this is not possible if the bus is very full, or his football team lost last night…

Journey time to Granada is 1 hour 45 minutes, and the buses are comfortable, modern and usually very punctual.

A taxi from the rank outside Granada Bus Station will cost no more than 8€ to the city centre. Alternatively, you can take a city bus (red in colour), either the #3 or #33, and alight at the final stop (by the Cathedral) in Gran Vïa, from where it is a short walk to most central hotels ( – you will be sent a map with your booking confirmation, if you have booked accommodation with us).

BUEN VIAJE!
