How to get to Granada
Granada is easy to reach, by air, road and train.
There are direct scheduled flights into Granada Airport from several UK airports, making for a quick and comfortable journey. . However, do consider all options, such as flying to either Malaga Airport (135 kms from Granada) or Almeria Airport (175 kms) and then travelling to Granada by taxi and bus, details of which appear below.
Air
Flights to and from Spain are not included in our prices, allowing you to choose from the many alternatives and to be flexible with your dates. Depending on the season and when you book, a return flight to Spain can cost as little as £50. It is a good idea to periodically check the special offers promoted on the airlines' websites. In addition, we are always happy to give advice as to the many options available and how to secure the best bargains!
Granada Airport has direct international flights operated by the following carriers:
- Ryanair: Departures from London Stansted, East Midlands and Liverpool
- Monarch Airlines: Departures from London Gatwick
There are also flights to Granada from Madrid and Barcelona with Iberia, Spanair and Vueling, allowing for many connections to airports worldwide.
Malaga Airport is southern Spain’s main international airport, with flights from all over Europe. Granada is only an hour and a half’s car drive away or a little over two and a half hours by taxi and bus.
Almeria Airport, destination for an increasing number of scheduled flights from around Europe, is another option. Travel time to Granada is two hours by car, approximately three hours by taxi and bus.
IMPORTANT: When making your flight arrangements, please bear in mind the time you will need to allow to get from your arrival airport to Granada in good time before any activity that begins that same day. We don’t want you to miss anything! NB If you fly into Malaga or Almeria airports we strongly recommend either that you choose a flight which arrives mid-afternoon or that you request an Airport Transfer. This is because there are fewer bus services from those cities to Granada in the evening.
Road

In general, bus companies in Spain run to time, with a modern fleet, and are very reasonably priced. The journey times and ticket prices to Granada are:
- From Malaga: 1 hour 45 minutes; 8,88€ adult single.
- From Almeria: 2 hours 15 minutes; 10,10€ adult single (Direct service - "ruta" service is 2€ more and slower...).
- From Madrid: 5 hours 20 minutes; 14,72€ adult single.

Train
Sadly, not Granada’s strongest card. The train journey from Malaga to Granada involves a change and is therefore a rather slow option. From Almeria the journey takes 2 hours 15 minutes, but there are only 3-4 trains per day (13,85€ adult single).

Airport Transfers
Malaga and Almeria
All Ways Spain offers transfers by private vehicle from either Malaga Airport or Almeria Airport to your hotel in Granada and for the return journey. This item is not included in the cost of any of the Activity Holidays we offer. We will make the precise arrangements with you by e-mail, for which we will need you to send us the details of your flight as soon as you have them.
Price per person one way: 60€
GranadaGranada Airport is only 17kms from the city centre, which can be reached easily by bus or taxi.
Taxi: Exit the Terminal building and proceed to Parada de Taxis. To the centre of Granada should cost approximately 20€.
Airport bus: Exit the Terminal building, turn right and the bus stop is some 20m away. A scheduled service (run by J.Gonzalez) operates the following timetable, with a single adult ticket costing 3€. Journey time is roughly 30 minutes. In central Granada, alight at the last stop on Gran Via, near the entrance to the Cathedral.
