Enjoy some of the best music, culture and festivities in Spain
The city annually hosts several well-established and prestigious festivals, including:
- International Festival of Music and Dance – World-famous not just for the quality of its events but also for the wonderful staging in historic venues throughout the city (such as the Generalife gardens and the palace courtyards of the Alhambra). The Festival runs between late June and mid July. To visit the official website, click here.
- International Festival of Tango – Argentina’s national dance has found a home in Granada with this festival which takes place every March. To visit the official website, click here.
- Flamenco Viene del Sur – A winter-long programme of flamenco dance and music which takes place throughout Andalucia held at the Teatro Alhambra (currently hosted by the Teatro Municipal José Tamayo, in the suburb of La Chana). To read more about the festival, click here.
- Zaidin Rock Festival – The Zaidin, a young and suburban district of the city, holds every September a series of free music festivals. The Rock Festival attracts an eclectic mix of indie groups from Spain and abroad. The street cafes and fairgrounds surrounding the venue abound with life on the warm summer nights. - International Jazz Festival – Every November the jazz world turns towards Granada for this major festival which has attracted such names as Elvis Costello, Dee Dee Bridgewater, Chick Corea, Chucho Valdés, Marcos Valle and John Scofield. To visit the official website, click here.
- Hocus Pocus Magic Festival – Series of shows, performances and concerts revealing a lot (but not all...!) of magical trickery. November is the month to see a varied list of International guest performers and the star of the show, Granada's own "MagoMigue", Miguel Puga. Recommended!
