Walking Holidays - small groups with private guide & transport
Spain has a wealth of walking trails, often delightfully empty, which have their origins in the needs of agriculture, commerce and pilgrimage. This year we are offering two small group walking holidays which focus on such trails in the contrasting areas of Galicia and Andalucia. The first follows the pilgrims route, the Camino de Santiago, through the heart of Green Spain for seven nights, ending on the steps of the majestic cathedral of Santiago de Compostela. The second combines walks on mountain tracks in the southern sierras with stays in the two main sites where the Moorish cultural legacy is most evident, Granada and Córdoba. These tours can be provided for groups of a minimum of four persons as private tours on dates of your choice. Please contact us for further details about any of these options. |

Midsummer Night's Madness - Weekend Special in the Alpujarra
Midsummer is celebrated all over Andalucia on the "Noche de San Juan" (23rd June) with all-night parties on the beaches, fireworks and many traditional fiestas. None is more curious - and many would say crazy - than the "Water Fiesta" that takes place in the spa town of Lanjarón. At the stroke of midnight the townsfolk engage in an hour of riotous water-throwing, dousing all and sundry with buckets, jugs, balloons of water. We are offering a special package of rural hotel, hire car and walking route notes, so that you can get the most out of a long-weekend break in this beautiful corner of Andalucia. Contact us for details - and do pack some dry clothes! |

Countryside Walks
Get out into the countryside, without leaving Granada! - This guided loop walk of some 4-5 hours, which starts above the Alhambra Palaces, takes in woods which were once the hunting grounds of the Moorish sultans and from where we enjoy wonderful views over the city and to the high peaks of the Sierra Nevada, drops down into the verdant valley of the River Darro, and passes through the fascinating cave district of Sacromonte, a rural idyll on the outskirts of Granada. The walk is of moderate difficulty, with some uphill climbs, and is guided by an English-speaking resident guide. A great way to get to know the city, and enjoy the outdoors. Please contact us for details.

Guadix
- A different world, 50 minutes away
A short drive from Granada lies a city founded by Julius Caesar, fringed by one of Europe’s few deserts, and where it is not unusual to live in a cave... Guadix is certainly unique, set in a lunar-like landscape where caves have long been a mainstay of the housing market. We will take you to visit one of the region’s 3000-odd cave houses, a museum which shows how life was and is lived in these peculiar dwellings. The excursion also includes a light hike in one of Andalucía’s most beautiful Natural parks, the Sierra de Huétor, which offers wonderful vistas of the higher peaks of the Sierra Nevada, spectacular when seen with its winter coating of snow.
